Speech and Language Therapy

Speech and Language Therapy

Our Speech and Language Therapist – Helen Trott – is in school on Wednesday mornings from 9:30am to 1:30pm.

Speech and Language Therapy covers all sorts of comunication needs. For example:

  • Clarity of speech
  • Good listening skills
  • Understanding spoken language well
  • Using spoken language well
  • Being fluent
  • Using good talking skills to make friends and get on with others
  • Communicating thoughts and feelings to others

Communication skills are so important for life, for building relationships, for learning and for succeeding in work and leisure.

If a child has difficulty with any of the above they can be referred to Speech and Language Therapy. They will then be assessed and offered the right support to progress with these skills. This may be individual sessions with the Speech and Language Therapist or may be in a small group as well as special ways of working in class. The Speech and Language Therapist works jointly with teaching staff, care staff and families to ensure a consistent approach.

Please feel free to contact Helen with any queries on 01527 853 851 Ext 220 on Wednesdays or alternatively leave her a voicemail with your contact details and she will get back to you
